Well, much of the packing is done, we packed up the good china yesterday; somehow that made it real; I don’t know why, but there it is.
Of course there’s the stuff that we can’t pack until we’re ready to leave for good, but other than some furnishings, clothes, and the kitchen stuff, we’re about 90% done. Oh and the woodshop which is going to be a U-Haul box all by itself. Booze is in the usual place, beer is out in the mudroom, and dinner will be afritada, a Philippine chicken stew. This week we have an incredibly target rich environment, so let’s see how many things we can blow up before the Torpedo room runs dry.
*First up, We saw The Accountant^2 over the weekend, in a break from making sausage. Good flick. It’s not Oscar winning, by any means, but then with what they give Oscars for these days, I don’t think that Oscar winning is the recommendation it once was.
Afflack’s character is back of course, as is the gal that inherited (so to speak) his services as an occasional CI. Also returning is his brother, and this quickly becomes a buddy caper film. The humor is well done, as are the action scenes. The only preaching, if you can call it that, is about the evils of human trafficking, and how bad the cartels are, and at least from my perspective, that’s not preaching, that’s just facts.
This was in the same category as the Lethal Weapon series, and Red Notice, among others, and it’s at least as much fun. I give it five rounds out of a six-gun.
Now let me touch on a couple of pieces by other folks, in the last couple weeks.
*A perennial favorite of mine, CDR Sal, hit a couple out of the park: brave-little-palau discussing Palau’s willingness to stand up to the Dragon in the east, what could china do to the usa on D+ 0 which should be required reading by every elected official and their staff. It covers sabotage already committed in CONUS, spying by PRC nationals, sabotage and assassination by Russian and Iranian assets, and the establishment of a fifth column on our soil by those nations.
They’re setting up the conditions for major league disruption and destruction inside our nation, and it’s reasonable to expect that we will get hit by a significant number of internal attacks as part of the first hours of the war. What does that mean? Let’s start with the power grid going down, the public water supply poisoned, bridges mysteriously collapsing, ports being blocked by ships or bridges being dropped… All the stuff Spetsnaz was trained to do, but being conducted not JUST by Spetsnaz, but by sleeper agents from the PRC, and Iran as well.
If you think this is ridiculous science fiction thriller shit, I advise you to investigate “The Illegals” and the FBI operation “Ghost Stories.” You might also remember the Mossad’s recent pager caper against Hamas, and the mysterious explosion in the Iranian port of Shahid Rajaee, which “Just happened” to take out a shitload of ammo meant for Hamas, and what is believed to be a metric butt-ton of rocket fuel, and contemplate what sort of damage could be done by something similar here. I’m not saying these guys are as good as Mossad, but then they don’t have to be, we’re pretty porous when it comes to stopping spies.
*OldNFO posted a nice piece on the signs Trump put up on the Whitehouse lawn about some of the worst criminal illegals captured and sent back to their countries of origin @ there-is-trolling it’s worth a look, and it’s a fast read.
*PeterSweden did a slightly scary piece on Moderna, @ huge-moderna-facing-suspension If you were forced to take the Jab, by benefit of working for an employer who required it, you might want to look at this.
Now the fact that Moderna has been caught offering children fifteen hundred British Pounds and a teddy bear, to participate in the vaccine trials is disturbing enough, (and illegal) the fact that the then British vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi appears to have been bribed to assist Moderna, and co-wrote several papers with Moderna promoting the vaccine is more so. The big kicker: Independent testing of the mRNA vaccine in Australia showed DNA contamination at up to 145 times the regulatory limit. The limit is ten nanograms per dose. The vac in question racked up one thousand four hundred and sixty ng. Among the contamination found was “something called a SV40 enhancer/promoter which can drag DNA fragments into the cell, possibly changing the DNA.”
Our government set it up so we are not allowed to sue Moderna, if it turns out that there’s something in there that will cause permanent damage… Nor can we sue the people who required you take the shot as a condition of employment. Feeling better yet?

*Tom Knighton just did a deep dive into the latest studies on the polar ice cap melting (spoiler, it isn’t.) @ wait...what-they-lied-to-us-im-shocked that discusses the studies by folks such as Dr Mark England from the University of Exeter and his team, and the Mot and Bailey style argument by the Cult of Climatology.
*DataRepublican over at X https://x.com/DataRepublican broke a story about Mr. Nicolas Turza, a DOD branch Chief who had to resign after being caught on video vowing to “Resist” Trump, and Secretary Hegseth, calling President Trump “illegitimate” among other things.
That’s not the story though. This same putz was caught campaigning for, and pushing the concept of having USAID and the State Department integrated into any future military operations.
Seriously? Someone who used to be high up in the DOD wants State and a fucking NGO integrated into our battle space??? I wouldn’t fire him for being a traitor or showing disrespect to the CinC, I would fire him for being a moron!
*If you remember the Busy Ditch Col. Shayla Baez Ramirez, who used to run Fort McCoy? She’s been suspended from her position as the base CO, due to her insubordination. Chick has a degree in Psychology/Mental Health.

*Several months ago, I mentioned that there was accusations that Act Blue was conducting campaign fraud, reporting cash donations that the donators state never happened, taking money out of people’s accounts without authorization, and other such shenanigans. Well, Trump just signed a memo directing the DOJ to investigate this shit and charge the guilty. Hopefully some folks will be seeing the inside of the same cells the J-6ers became so familiar with.
*Speaking of the DNC and their funding, there seems to be a civil war going down between the ‘old guard’ of the DNC, and the young radicals. If you remember, David Hogg (of Florida school shooting ‘fame.’ yes, that Hogg. The one who lied about everything he experienced that day, in pursuit of fame.) Well, Davey was elected Vice Chair of the DNC. Apparently, it was thought that this would make the radicals happy. Instead, as is always the case, giving a bully an inch makes them demand a mile.
Hogg has pledged twenty million bucks to “primary” any democrats that aren’t radical enough for him. OK, he said “ineffective” but in his view, effective is “ban all guns” “zero carbon emissions” “pay for all college” and “give everyone free housing.” He has stated that he wants to put “younger, effective candidates in the place of old ineffective ones.” This, of course went over like a whore in church with the old guard, whose only litmus test is “Party first, party always, nothing outside the party.” The other person that was running for the seat Hogg took, has filed a complaint with the national committee that they “failed to distinguish between gender categories.”
Well, I wish them a long and inconclusive war with a lot of bloodshed.
*Iraq has arrested an ISIS terrorist from that country, on charges that he was the person behind the attack by Shamsud-Din Jabbar of Texas on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, on New Years day. So much for Biden’s FBI’s claims at the time that “the terrorist acted alone.”
*If you haven’t heard, Spain was quite proud that they hit 100% renewable power (wind, solar and hydro.) on the 16th of April. Something they bragged about excessively. Now one of the things I’m very familiar with, and quite good at, is electrical systems; whether electronic, electrical, power generation, or storage: it’s a field I worked in for decades. Of the three “renewable” energy sources, (by the way, nuclear is renewable too, but the watermelons don’t like that one) only one is truly reliable. Hydro. Wind is literally: at the mercy of the wind. Solar can be dramatically curtailed by dust, clouds, and of course, nightfall. Hydro can only be messed with by politicians who are worried about how the salmon will spawn and such.
Everything but hydro requires power conditioners, converters (solar generates DC power, most wind power does too) and battery storage, against the times when the source falls off… In short, it’s a far more complex system, with more moving parts, and more ways to go wrong, when compared to hydro, nuke, and fossil fuel plants.
Spain got to learn that just twelve days after their bragging session, when one of the solar farms went into frequency oscillation (remember I said it generates DC and turns it into AC, the system is more complex, and more computerized.Was this a cyber-attack, or a failure of either software or hardware? No one knows yet.) Automatic safeties kicked in and took this farm off line, which caused a cascade failure.
End result? The entire Iberian Peninsula blacked out for over a day, and things still not fully back up. The cell phones continued to work for at least a while, because the towers have batteries and emergency diesel generators… Same thing for the hospitals, though they had to use the Army to escort fuel trucks to the hospitals to keep the generators running. Everything else, from radio and tv stations, traffic lights, household power, airports (runway lights, internal lights, air traffic control radios and radars) all of it: including all of their trains, because guess what? They’re all electric too.
Spain of course, is doubling down on “this had nothing to do with renewables, look, our nuclear plants went down too.” This of course ignores the fact that there are systems in the nuke plants that shut them down if there’s a problem with the grid… France’s grid, which is set to divorce itself from Spain’s in the event of a catastrophic failure on the Spanish side, and which is mostly nuclear, did not go down…
Bringing the grid back up from “black” is far more challenging with mostly solar and wind, because they need power to run the stuff that makes power. (like your car needs a charged battery to start and to run the spark plugs until the alternator can take the load.) Contrarily, a fossil fuel generator can fire up, and bring the little section of the grid around it back up, which powers the big breakers to bring more of it up, and so on. A nuke needs either battery or a diesel to get up and running, then it can behave like a fossil fuel plant. To date, solar and wind can not be part of the “bring it up from black” piece.
*As Trump hits his one hundredth day in office, the press is making a big deal about how his polls have dropped significantly. His rating right now is the second lowest since they started counting, with Eisenhower. The only president with a lower approval rating at 100 days was… Wait for it…
Trump. In his first term. Of course, other than for the mid term election, which will no doubt be caged as a referendum on his presidency, Trump doesn’t need to care about his popularity. He can’t run again, so why give a shit? Then there’s the fact that the same folks who say he’s massively unpopular, are the same ones that said he had no chance of winning… Maybe, just maybe, those polls aren’t relevant?
*I’ve kept quiet about this, because it was still “just a proposal.” But I can’t keep quiet any longer, because the stupid bastards have now said they’re going to do it! The UK has decided that in consideration of the huge dangers of Global Warming (Yeah the same global warming that their scientists say isn’t really happening, as noted above) they are going to dump massive amounts of Sulfur Dioxide (the stuff that causes smog) into the troposphere, and the upper and lower stratosphere above the UK.
Yes, you read that right, to solve the global warming crisis they claim exists, that they claim is caused by man made pollution, they are going to pollute the atmosphere. Of course, the real problem here is that it’s not just their atmosphere that they plan to experiment on. If it was just over Jolly Old, I would advise my relatives that live there to bail out, and if needful would find them a place where we’re setting up the farm… But sadly, there’s no way to keep the shit that they want to dump into the upper atmosphere in their little corner of the world. They are experimenting with everyone’s air.
I’m not saying that they’re the only nation that has ever done this sort of stupidity, risking everyone’s environment: we had the Hardtack tests, the Argus tests, Operation Fishbowl (which included five different successful bombs, and four failures) all high-altitude nuke tests, as well as “Project Highwater” a non-nuke test that injected a large volume of water into the ionosphere. The Soviets did Kapustin Yar, and Project K at high altitude, all of which involved multiple blasts. All of these were conducted back in the 60s or before though… after sixty more years, you would think we might be a little smarter.
On the “well that’s cool shit” front, we have /nasas-dragonfly-nuclear-powered-helicopter-clears-key-hurdle-ahead-of-2028-launch-toward-huge-saturn-moon-titan Now, before you plan your first nuclear flying car al’ a the Jetsons excursion, I need to point out that while, yes it’s car sized, and yes it is a flying vehicle powered by nuclear decay, it’s designed to fly in an atmosphere that is 1.5 times as dense as Earths (the atmosphere on Titan is methane) and in a gravity less than 1/6th of earths.
All that said, it’s designed to search for signs of life on the moon, long thought to be one of the best shots at extra terrestrial life in this solar system. The life we’re talking about, would of course most likely be microbial, but even that would be HUGE.
