"Since they already know, in their calmer moments, that SCOTUS isn’t going to save them, they’ve cooked up another idea. “Hey, they said, why don’t we make a new bill, lowering the mandatory retirement age on Supreme Court Judges from 75 to 54? Every sitting judge would have to retire, we pack the court with ‘good’ judges that will rubber stamp anything that can hurt Trump, and re try the case?” Even the NYT is reporting this shit.

Now of course the problems with this little plot are many."

And fourth, they're almost guaranteeing that SCOTUS will step on them, because they made it affect the current SCOVA immediately. From where I sit in the cheap seats, that's an "ex post facto" law, which the US Constitution expressly forbids. I suspect that at least the 6 conservative justices will agree to hear it, and take the opportunity to kick the Democrat's nads up between their ears.

That could be argued both ways, and while I lean in your direction, I think a case could be made against it. Of course I don't think a case can be made for the 54 YO retirement age itself. If you're a cop? sure. a judge? hell by the time you hit the supreme court you're almost garinteed to be close to that age.

“Well, good for you chickee, because of your racist antiracist bullshit, five days later the dude pushed an old man in front of a train, killing him. “

She should be charged as an accessory to murder.

Desperation can be borne of poor situational awareness and / or incompetence (believing things to be worse than they actually are). Then there's the back against the wall, I'm not going down without a fight desperation. You're screwed, you know it, and you rattle the dice in the cup really hard to try and change the situation. The second kind can be sheer nastiness (if I can't have it, neither will they) or slim hope is better than none. The Iranian conflict is one example, the current Democratic losing streak in the polls, policy and courts is another. Consider the IRGC: Syria, Lebanon and the rest of the Levant are no longer "safe" bolt holes due to Israel's actions and their own misguided efforts in striking their Arab neighbors (Persians gonna Persian, as the saying goes). So, they fight. If they don't, the local populace will have them against a wall or swinging from a lamppost very quickly. That's "we're screwed and we know it" desperation. The Democrats, having embraced their loony, ultra woke, maximum progressive left, are reaping the harvest of their efforts. Losing X (thanks Elon) and the budget auditing and resultant fraud exposure exemplified by but not limited to USAID (thanks DOGE and...Elon...again!) rattling the cup as hard as they can in the media and the courts, is their "best course of action". No matter how crazy or stupid it seems, their perception is that's what they need to do. Two desperate entities, one with VERY few options, and the other with an array of choices. May they both fail, with limited damage to the rest of the "normal" world. Fingers crossed, desperate animals are unpredictably dangerous.
